In two to three weeks the long-promised, solar powered street lights will be standing up on Diamond Street according to Chris Olson, Kern County Building Inspector.
On Tuesday afternoon, March 7, 2017, Olson (left) and two installers from AC Electric in Bakersfield, Matt Edmonson (center) and Danny Allen (right) were pouring concrete foundations for six of the lights. Lorelei Ovate, a resident of Rosamond, who serves as Director of the Kern County Planning and Natural Resources Department began this community beautification project several years ago. Local renewable energy companies donated the 18 lights which cost about $6,000. per light.
